Growing up, I have always been an introvert. I was that kid that sat on the side lines watching everything around me. I enjoy observing the intricate details of life - the color, the smell, the personality, how people move in it, etc. As I got older, that joy in details grew into an admiration for photography and the ability to tell a story in a single snap shot. So whenever I get a free moment to pick up my camera, I do it! It's been a long time coming, but I am officially done with school (FOREVER, woot woot)! I'm a full time sonographer, working two jobs, trying to balance my career and my love for photography. I spend all day imaging people's insides and during my spare time I like to image people's outside :) Photography is one of my favorite past times, but with only so many hours in a day, it remains my hobby. Thus, I will be available for limited portrait sessions.

That's a little about me... now, tell me about you! I look forward to hearing from you.

Tom and Anh | Maternity

Last Sunday I had the most fabulous shoot to date! The weather has been really wacky lately so I was really grateful for a crisp November day; not hot, not cold, just perfect.

What made the shoot even better was, of course, Tom and Anh. Photo sessions are always a bonus when there's chemistry!

Background story: I actually went to Junior High with Anh years ago and had not seen her until, oh..., two months ago. It turns out that she's really good friends with my husband's old roommate's fiance! Not only that... her brother was the first boy that ever asked me out. LOL. It's so funny to think that I turned him down only because I thought that I was "too young to have a bf." My parents should be proud :)I love that the world can be this small.

Anyway, I saw Anh again at San and Tammi's engagement party, and I'm not going to lie, I was secretly planning to shoot her maternity session. So when she emailed me, I was beyond ecstatic!

Although I had seen Tom at the party, I didn't get a chance to talk to him much. But when Anh introduced us, it was like I had known the both of them for years. I think they relaxed me more than anything. They are just so sweet and tender with one another; cracking jokes, being silly... it made my job so easy! They're expecting baby Zoe this winter... and I'm already penciling them in for a new born session!

Every time I told Tom to pretend he was whispering sweet nothings into Anh's ear, he always went above and beyond, slipping some tongue, cracking us all up.

98% of the time, Tom did a good job looking at Anh, gazing into her eyes, but there was always that 2% where he was looking around aimlessly! I kept looking up to see if there were birds flying over us!

This is one of my favorite pictures of Anh. She is just beaming and the light couldn't be more appropriate.

Before our session, Anh emailed me about wanting to photograph Tom's back... Look at the amazing artwork!

She asked me if I could shoot it in black and white because she thought that it would look amazing... and I have to say, she was right! I love how this image speaks volumes. If you can't tell they're into each other, I don't know what will!

Another bird? Must be...

My sister came with me, as usual. We're kind of inseparable... Here are some of my favorite pictures that Catherine took:

I looove this one...

Thanks Cat for helping and hanging out!
Thank you Tom and Anh for being so much fun! I hope to spend more time with your family, capturing all the important memories!

Ellie's Big Celebration | Kids

Happy Birthday Ellie Chen!

It was the most adorable birthday party I've ever been to. I think Chris might be a little scared of having kids now :) Thanks Sarah for having us!

Smug Mug Meeting

Last night I went with Catherine and Rachel to a Smug Mug meeting led my Jasmine Star.

I had a great time meeting new people and seeing familiar faces. The topic last night was "Netmaking." Netmaking is a term coined by JStar meaning "the art of making..." or something similar to that. I apologize if I butchered that one; I have a feeling I did. Nevertheless, she spoke about how hard it is (for her, and similarly for me) to "network." I'm a really shy gal and whenever I get invited to parties or social gathering, I tend to watch instead of interacting. The way she dealt with it is admirable. She stopped attending the networking functions and instead started to netmake. She offered her help to anyone and everyone, not to benefit herself, but because she was hungry and wanted to help those she admired. Wow. Netmaking. Seems so simple. Help others! At the end of the day it's about Karma. You know, "do unto others as you would like done to you..." or something like that.

Folks, if you don't know this about me already, now you know: I AM TERRIBLE AT SAYINGS. Chris makes fun of me all of the time. I am notorious for butchering things, but hey, I try and people get it.

So... NETMAKING. It's a simple concept and I hope implement this asap!

On a side note, I'll be celebrating mine and my sister's birthday tonight with some friends. This is what I was thinking of making:

I haven't done it in a while, but it's light, healthy, and easy! MMM... Steamed Halibut over Greek Orzo
